A service dog is specifically tasked trained to help a person with a disability.
A task is what a service dog performs to help their owner; examples being picking up an item for the owner, alerting to low blood sugar, interruptions of self-harm for anxiety response, and so much more there are only a few of so many tasks out there.
First, you must qualify under the Americans with Disability Act of being disabled, as well asobtaining a note from your provider stating you would benefit from a service dog. If you need help in the next steps and do not have a note yet, please contact us.
First, reach out to us, then we can set up if owner training is the best for you. If you cannot owner-train we work alongside a service dog organization that raises service dogs for people who cannot do the training themselves, and we can help you get in contact with them.
If you have a dog you think would be a great fit, and you check off all requirements we can start with a temperament tes,t and then go over a training program to best fit you.
A program dog is a dog that goes through us from the beginning of their training to the end, and they pass a final test to ensure they have what it takes to be the best service dog they can be.
We work with you to create a schedule that best fits your training needs. You will also be required to purchase a program vest to represent who you are training under! The best part is that they come in any color you want!
Training roughly takes 2 years and over 100 hours of public training to be certified through Scar's AUSSome Training (there is no certification needed for a service dog this is simply a certification for going through our training program).
We are one of the most affordable service dog training programs. Most programs cost up to 15k-25k. After training with us, it will roughly be around 5k-8k depending on the training required for your dog's specific tasks, as well as how much time you put into training between sessions.
We do offer payment programs and packages to cut the cost even more!
Even if you have a service dog and are not a part of our program but need some extra help with training, you are welcome to set up private lessons for help in public, task work, or any other concerns you need help with!
If you are going through our service dog program, you will need to sign a contract. We can send it to you to look over. If you are seeking just help from a service dog you have trained yourself, no contract is needed.
